VADODARA: Ghoghamba taluka in Panchmahal district is becoming a hub of political activity in the wake of a tribal rally at Kankodakoi village there. The organizers of the rally to be addressed by former chief minister Keshubhai Patel have even extended an invitation to Sanjay Joshi, who resigned from BJP on Friday.
Mahagujarat Janata Party (MJP) president Gordhan Zadaphia earlier in the day visited the venue of Adivasi Adhikar Garjana Sammelan.
Organizers claim BJP leaders, like minister of state for roads and buildings Jaydrathsinh Parmar and Rajgadh MLA Fatesinh Chauhan, are working overtime to ensure that people stay away from the rally.
MJP state general secretary Jaykant Patel said soon after Joshi resigned, he and one of the main organizers Parbatsinh Damor sent text messages to Joshi inviting him to the rally. Patel alleged that BJP leaders were working overtime to ensure that the rally was not a success.
However, a senior BJP leader said they were only monitoring the situation and not dissuading anybody from going to the rally. "We believe it will have little impact," he said.
Speaking to mediapersons, Zadaphia said the rally was a non-political event. "We are here only to support the genuine demands of tribals," he said adding that their situation was much better under Keshubhai's regime.
