VADODARA: After much delay, Gujarat government has appointed four government nominees to MS University's syndicate body.
MSU on Wednesday received official notification from the state government appointing city-based educationist Tejal Amin, doctor Ashok Mehta, BJP leader Jigar Inamdar and RSS-linked Jignesh Soni as government nominees to the syndicate body for a period of three years.

While Amin is chairperson of city-based Navrachana Education Society, Mehta is an ophthalmologist. Soni is associated with Vidya Bharti, an educational organization linked with the RSS.
Out of the four, Inamdar is the only one who has been repeated by the state government as its nominee. This is the third consecutive time that Inamdar has been appointed as government nominee in the syndicate body.
Amin, Mehta and Soni are the new faces in university's executive council.
Names of these government nominees were already doing the rounds on Monday but MSU officials had not received any official communication from the state government regarding their appointment. The selection of nominees by the state government has surprised many in the campus.
It is worth mentioning here that internal bickering between various factions of the 'Parivar' had delayed the appointment of government nominees.

Elections of the new syndicate body had ended in February and newly formed syndicate body had also convened their first meeting in March.
Although it was expected that the state government would appoint its nominees to the syndicate before the first meeting of the body, the government kept on delaying the announcement.
Intense lobbying by the ruling BJP-RSS group, ABVP-backed group and a group that had gained prominence during VadFest had resulted in delay in the appointment.
Also, this time, the state government has not appointed any teacher as government nominee to the body.
In 2012, apart from Inamdar, state government had appointed industrialist and social worker Shruti Shroff, advocate Tushar Vyas and RSS-linked teacher from MSU Gopal Bhatti as its nominees to the body.
