Four die due to lightning, tree collapse

Vadodara/Palanpur: Four people died due to lightning and tree collapse in Banaskantha and Anand districts as heavy rain coupled with strong winds lashed several parts of the state after nearly a month of dry spell on Friday.In Anand, a tree collapsed on a husband-wife returning home on the scooter, killing them on the spot. Bhagwatprasad Chauhan (32) and his wife Salini (30), living in Sohamnagar in Bakrol got trapped under the tree’s trunk. Fire brigade pulled out the couple and took them to the hospital where doctors declared them dead. In Banaskantha, a seven-year-old boy and his grandfather, 57, died after being struck by lightning in Fatehpura village of Palanpur taluka on Friday.
