Four city girls in U-14 national football squad
Vadodara: Four young girls from the city will soon represent Gujarat in the National U-14 football tournament. Baroda District Football Association (BDFA) selected these girls based on their performance in an inter-district football tournament.
The selected players are Tana Seju, Kirat Patel, Kesha Shah and Krishna Shah. Another footballer Kesha Sharma has been kept on standby. “It is a proud moment for us as four girls from BDFA have been picked up for Gujarat team,” BDFA president Hanif Ginwala said. BDFA secretary Sandip Desai was also among the selector for Gujarat State Football Association.
BDFA picked up the girls after the team reached finals of Inter-District BAN LAB CUP tournament held in Rajkot between June 7 and 10.
Baroda girls, who were coached by Deepak Salunke, first reached the semi-finals and beat Kutch. In finals, they lost to Patan. The selected girls will first attend a camp in Rajkot from June 17 to 28 and then play in the national tournament at Cuttack from July 1. tnn
