Five sarpanch supporters die in accident

VADODARA: Five persons were killed and six others injured during a victory procession of a gram panchayat sarpanch in the Ked village of Shehra taluka in Panchmahal district on Friday evening.The accident happened when the procession that included a mini-truck and people of foot was passing on a slope in the village. The truck started rolling on the slope and the driver could not control it as the brakes malfunctioned.“The truck ran over those who were walking in front of the procession. Five persons died while the injured were rushed to a hospital for treatment,” said Shehra police sub-inspector Anand Chaudhary.The deceased have been identified as Arjan Pateliya, Aratsinh Pateliya, Tejal Pateliya, Bhala Nayak and Arjan Nayak. Three of the persons injured in the incident were rushed to the SSG Hospital at Vadodara for treatment.
