VADODARA: Five persons were arrested by local crime branch of Santrampur in Mahisagar district for alleged murder of a 35-year-old woman. The decapitated body of Shanta Bhagora was found near Vajiyakhat village of Santrampur on Friday.
The accused identified as Aarif Sheikh, Ashfak Sheikh, Irfan Kothari, Aamin Majidsheikh and Wasim Gaji had allegedly murdered Bhagora on June 22 and dumped her body parts at different locations.
All the five accused were arrested from their homes in Morva Hadaf taluka of Panchmahal district. The deceased also belonged to the same taluka.
Bhagora had gone missing four days before her body was found. According to the police Aarif Sheikh, a resident of Morva, was in a relationship with Bhagora.
Police said that Aarif found out that Bhagora had an alleged affair with Dinesh Raval, a resident of Kadiya Narsihpur. On June 22, Aarif met Bhagora and entered into a heated argument. He later hit her with a stone on the head which killed her.
Upon interrogation, Aarif admitted that he dumped Bhagoras hands separately as she had his name tattooed on one of the arms. Following the incident he informed his brother Aamin who along with three other accused helped in dumping the body, police said.
The police have recovered the SUV used to transfer the dismembered body and are conducting investigations to recover the deceased’s clothes that were dumped by the accused. “All the accused have been booked for murder and criminal conspiracy,” said LCB police inspector C C Khatana. The brutal murder came to light when a forest guard spotted a plastic bag filled with something heavy in the forest area near Vajiyakhant village.
He informed police who came to the site and opened the bag to find the decapitated body.
