Court denies bail to Chandramohan
VADODARA: A sessions court denied
Chandramohan’s lawyer argued that he had not committed the crime as mentioned in the complaint and he was carrying only a toy gun. It was also argued that Chandramohan has the responsibility of his family therefore he will not run away.
The additional public prosecutor K M Joshi in response argued that Chandramohan had reached the university’s head office with the intention of committing the crime because the university had held up his result for making obscene paintings of gods and goddesses in 2007.
Police stated in their affidavit stated that he had threatened the personal assistant of the vice-chancellor using the gun and had set the chamber on fire after sprinkling petrol.
While turning down his plea, the court observed that a loss of Rs 50 lakh was incurred by the university and because Chandramohan had done the act to get his work done, a lenient view cannot be taken. “If in such case the applicant is released on bail, it will give encouragement where people can bully and get their work done illegally,” the judgement read.
