Couple dies due to gas stove explosion

VADODARA: A couple was killed due to explosion in a kerosene stove in Bhathujinagar locality of the Gotri area in the city on Friday night. While the husband died late on Friday, the wife succumbed to burns on Saturday morning.
The incident took place at the house of Vinod Parmar when his wife Ramila was cooking on a gas stove. Vinod said in his dying declaration that he was watching TV and his wife was cooking when the accident took place.He said that there was an explosion in the stove and he as well as his wife caught fire.
The couple raised an alarm and residents in the neighbourhood rushed to their aid. They were taken to the SSG Hospital where Vinod died. Ramila was serious and died on Saturday morning.
Vinod used to work as a worker making sev' in a firm in the city. The couple has two sons, who were not present at home at the time of the incident. One had gone to see a movie and another is visiting his grandparents at Tarapur.
