Cops yet to ascertain identity of sexually assaulted boy

VADODARA: Over a week after his body was found from an open plot in Sayajigunj, the police have not been able to ascertain the identity of a 10-year-old boy. The boy was sexually assaulted and then murdered by some unidentified person. His body was then dumped in Sayajigunj area. The police made several efforts to find out identity of the victim.
Prima facie investigations revealed that the victim belongs to poor background and may have been a slum dweller.The victim was killed brutally as pieces of bricks were found from his mouth. The police talked to several people staying in the area including those sleeping on footpaths. But no one could identify the boy. Investigating officials also suspect that there may be other reasons behind the assault and that the accused might be known to the victim’s family.
Several such incidents were reported in Sayajigunj area over last few years wherein young girls sleeping on footpath with their families were kidnapped. The accused in these cases were arrested by the police.
