The policeman identified as Murtuza Ali Mansuri had demanded Rs 25,000 from a man against whom the inspector of police station had received an application to register an offence under the Money Lending Act and Gujarat Money Lenders’ Act. The application was received during the drive started by the city police against loan sharks. Mansuri, who is also the writer of the inspector, approached the man who was named in the application to settle the case and not register an FIR.

Sleuths of ACB laid a trap on the basis of which they asked the man to inform Mansuri that he can pay the bribe amount on Tuesday. Mansuri asked the man to come to the police station on Tuesday night and give him the money.
