Vijay Rupani on Monday visited Orwada village in Panchmahal district to pay tributes to Indian Army jawan
Sunil Patel, who died in an avalanche in Machhil sector of Jammu & Kashmir last week.
Speaking during the visit Rupani said that by standing firm even in such circumstances and losing his life, Sunil had become an inspiration of patriotism for other youths.
Rupani handed over a cheque amounting to Rs 2.51lakh to his family from the chief minister’s relief fund.
He also handed over another cheque of Rs 1 lakh on behalf of the Bariya community. The amount was collected through voluntary donations by the community to which Sunil belonged.
Rupani spoke to the family members of Sunil including his father Takhatsinh Patel. He also paid floral tributes and prayed in front of the martyred soldier’s photograph on the occasion. He also released a book Gujarat Gatha as a tribute to the martyred soldier.
