VADODARA: Martyr
Divakar Faltankar's family is overwhelmed with the love and support shown by the people of the city. They did not expect so many people to throng in large numbers to share their grief and honour Divakar's sacrifice.
Politicians too did their bit when city mayor Balkrishna Shukla declared a Rs 1 lakh aid for Divakar's family from the mayor's fund.
Counsellors of where Divakar's residence area came up with the idea of naming Saktwadar cross-roads as Veer Divakar Faltankar Chowk, a proposal which has been accepted by the city mayor.
"The crowd that came in was beyond our expectation. We were very sad, but also felt pride in seeing the honour given to my brother," said Ravi Faltankar, Divakar's brother.
"This funeral procession too has left us speechless as we never thought that so many will join us in this hour of grief. The void created due my elder brother's death will never get filled, but the warmth given to our family will lessen the pain," he said.
