VADODARA: The city police recently launched an extensive search and combing operation in Dahod district to nab persons involved in several crime cases. The police began the operation after preparing a list of 40 offenders who belong to Dahod and have committed offences in the city.
In the first extensive operation of its kind in Dahod in the recent past, the city police sent officers and sleuths from city, Fatehgunj and JP Road police stations as well as the Detection of Crime Branch to nab the offenders, many of whom have been on the run for several years.
Sources said that the list of such offenders was prepared on the basis of investigations done in various cases earlier. "The complainants or the accomplices of the accused had taken their names in many cases. With these details, attempts are being made to track down the accused," an officer said.
While the city police did not meet with the success it had hoped for, it managed to nab two accused. One Raman Mavi was arrested in connection with a case of cheating, while Kesur Hathila was nabbed in connection with a burglary at a temple in the precincts of Panigate police station in the city.
According to officials, most of the accused were wanted in crimes like theft, burglary and robbery. The sleuths searched the residences of the accused in around 20 villages of Dahod district. The personnel of the Local Crime Branch and the Special Operations Group of Dahod police also participated in the operation.
