BJP spokesman flouted poll code: Congress

Vadodara: The Congress party on Friday accused BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra of flouting the model code of conduct rules when he arrived at a hotel in the city.

The City Congress spokesperson Nilesh Brahmbhatt filed a complaint with the district election officer against Patra, mayor Bharat Dangar and the Vadodara MP Ranjan Bhatt. Brahmbhatt in his complaint said that Patra, Bhatt and Dangar travelled in the vehicles that had ‘Government of Gujarat’ written on them.

“They flouted the poll code of conduct rules by travelling in Government of Gujarat vehicles. So, I filed a complaint with the district election officer,” Brahmbhatt said.

“We have received the complaint regarding the use of vehicles on which Government of Gujarat was written. Both Sayajigunj returning officer and RTO are verifying the details of the vehicles. If the vehicle do not belong to Gujarat Government, RTO will take necessary action,” said Vadodara district collector P Bharathi.
