VADODARA: With six members retiring from the standing committee of Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC), the city unit of the ruling BJP named their replacements. The general board of the civic body cleared the names on Friday evening.
Six members of the committee - Dilip Nepali, Vandana Khode, Ranjan Bhatt, Seema Parikh, Ranvirsinh Jadeja and Shyam Shah - were retiring from the committee next month.

The city unit of the BJP had begun the exercise of identifying new persons to replace these members.
The coordination committee of the party that includes members of the city unit executive, MP, MLAs and functionaries of the VMC met on Friday afternoon to decide on the names of six councillors, who would replace those who were retiring.
Party functionaries said that the choice of the six replacements was anonymous. The BJP picked up Poonam Shah, Rakhi Shah, Geet Kachhiya, Manoj Patel, Chandrakant Thakkar and Anil Desai to replace the six members who are retiring.
The party also retained the gender balance in the replacements as it picked up an equal number of male and female councillors.
The fresh appointments were placed on the agenda of the general board meeting on Friday. The board cleared the names by a voice vote.
