The eminent litterateur and social activist who recently passed away at the age of 90 at a private hospital in Kolkata, had first came to Vadodara to deliver the second Verrier Elwin Lecture in 1998 which was organized by Bhasha. It was she who introduced those associated with Bhasha to the denotified tribes of the country."Her passing away is a tremendous personal loss to each one of us at Bhasha and at Adivasi Academy who came in contact with her, directly or indirectly," said the office-bearer.

The meeting on Monday evening at Rambaug Hall near Shastri Bridge is being organized to share her memories. A 10 minute film on her will be followed by short personal accounts by professor Kanji Patel, Dr Bhagwandasbhai Patel, Dakshin Chara and Dr Sachin Ketkar.

A 10 minute one-person section from the dramatic adaptation of one of Devi's breast stories- 'Choli ke Piche Kya Hai'- will be performed by Kalpana Gagdekar.
