VADODARA: This Barodian now settled in Poland capital Warsaw has come to the aid of not only Gujaratis and Indians, but also Ukrainian refugees coming to the country.
Himanshu Patel, who hails from the Karelibaug area in the city, has two restaurants in Warsaw.
When Indian students started arriving in Warsaw and needed help, the first thing that could come to a retarateur’s mind would be feeding them.
Patel not only did that, but walked the extra mile by helping even Ukranians fleeing their country.
Patel prepared full meals for the Indians arriving in Warsaw. The Indian food even included ‘papads’ and pickle. While the arrival of Indians from Ukraine to Warsaw has slowed down now, he is still busy helping Ukranians.
Patel said that he used to provide around 300 meals a day earlier. The number gradually went down and only a few people need food now.
“Most people coming out of Ukraine are women and children. At the other end, Ukrainian men are going back to the country,” said Patel., who even arranged for baby food and diapers for children. “We are doing whatever we can for those who are arriving into Poland,” said Patel.
A concert by a Polish band that will sing devotional and other Indian music will also be organized for collecting funds. “We will collect some funds through the event and use it for the benefit of refugees,” said Patel.
