Barodian bags AIR first in NEET SS for neurosurgery

VADODARA: When National Board of Examinations (NBE), New Delhi recently declared results of National Eligibility cum Entrance Test Super Specialty (NEET SS) 2018, a city-based doctor bagged All India Rank (AIR) one for super specialty in neurosurgery.


Dr Parth Modi, whose father Dr Pravin Modi practises as general physician at Palej, stood first among 1,500 surgeons from across the country, who had appeared in the examination conducted by NBE on July 6.

“Now, I will be pursing MCH in neurosurgery from G B Pant Hospital, New Delhi which is a part of

Maulana Azad Medical College

,” said Parth, who studied in Don Bosco School, Vadodara and later completed his MBBS and MS in general surgery from B J Medical College, Ahmedabad.

After completing the three-year super specialty course in neurosurgery, Parth plans to return to Vadodara to pursue private practice.

“There are only 100 seats for this super specialty course in government medical colleges across the country,” said Parth, who is elated ever since the results were declared on July 15.

Only specialists who have completed their post-graduation can appear for NEET SS. “I was preparing for this examination since last one year,” said Parth, who credited his parents for his success.
