VADODARA: Former India cricketer Atul Bedade has offered to resign from the posts he held in Baroda Cricket Association (BCA).
Bedade, who had been associated with BCA as Ranjiselector for last eight years, sent an e-mail to the office-bearers on Thursdayexpressing his wish to quit. BCA management is yet to decide on the issue.
Bedade was also a member of cricket improvement committee (CIC).When asked, Bedade confirmed that he had offered to resign. But, he refused toelaborate on the reasons behind his decision. "I have sent an e-mail to BCAoffice-bearers and offered to resign. I have stated in the e-mail that I am opento other offers like joining as Baroda coach," Bedade told TOI.
However, sources said that some serious differences had cropped upbetween Bedade and some senior BCA officials over several issues including theex-cricketer's style of functioning. The issue was being discussed in theassociation over last few days and it also came up in the managing committeethat was held some days back.
The ex-cricketer, who was also known as 'sixer man' for his ability to hit huge sixes, has played 13 one-day internationals (ODIs) and 64 first-class matches in his 15-year cricketing career. He used to field a team of MPCG club that used to participate in BCA's official tournaments.
"We have received Bedade's e-mail wherein he has offered to resign," said BCA secretary Snehal Parikh.
"I was invited to give presentation for the job of Ranji coach some days back and I will oblige. I am open to giving my services to BCA," Bedade said. With BCA president Chirayu Amin abroad, the management is expected to take some decision in next few days. "His resignation offer will be discussed and then a final decision will be taken. Though the differences are bit serious, any decision will not be taken in hurry," said a BCA official.
