At 67.19%, Vadodara scores 9% lower than last year

Vadodara: Vadodara registered 67.19% results as the Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board (GSHSEB) declared results of class 12 general stream on Wednesday. Last year, Vadodara registered 76.49% pass percentage, the lowest in Gujarat. This year, the result was almost 9% lower compared to last year but the overall passing percentage of the district was better than Ahmedabad city and neighbouring districts like Panchmahal, Dahod and Narmada. Vraj Mehta, a student of Shreyas School, scored 99.99 percentile with 96.40% and A1 grade. “I will enrol for bachelor of commerce and simultaneously pursue chartered accountancy course to become a chartered accountant,” said Vraj, whose father Rohit Mehta is a salesman while mother Shobhana Mehta, is a homemaker.Nitya Vyas, a student of Alembic Vidyalaya, scored 99.71 percentile and 90.93% with A1 grade. She wants to become an IAS officer.A total of 17,831 registered for the exam of which 17,798 appeared. Of these, 55 students cleared the exam with A1 grade, 668 with A2 grade, 1,583 bagged B1 grade and 2,560 students got B2 grade. Of the city-based exam centres, the Sama exam centre registered the highest pass percentage of 75.79% followed by Indrapuri (75.05%). Atladara and Raopura exam centres registered 70.20% and 70.12 % results respectively. While the Pratapnagar centre registered 69.34%, Manjalpur and Mandvi centres registered 68.13% and 68.08% respectively. Sayajigunj centre recorded 66.91%, Fatehgunj 65.89% and Chhani 65.15%.
