Vadodara: When the newly appointed chairman of the executive committee of the Godhra municipality posted a cheerful family photograph on a social media site, many would have mistaken it to be a happy occasion like birthday or anniversary. However, it was actually him declaring that the entire family had tested Covid positive!
‘As usual we are
always positive
and
now Corona positive as well
. All of you take care,’ read the text accompanying the post by Rupen Mehta aka Bobby. Mehta said that he deliberately injected humour into his post but not with the intention to hide the status of their infection. “If we declare that we are positive, people who have come in touch with us can take necessary precautions and get themselves tested,” he said.
Mehta, his parents, wife and daughter have all tested positive. In the post, he shared a photograph of himself with his wife and daughter. Mehta’s daughter is set to get married on January 19. “We should stay confident, not panic and take necessary treatment,” he said.
Mehta was feeling unwell on Wednesday and tested positive on Thursday. “I had avoided going out as far as possible. But recently, a couple of development works were to be inaugurated in my area and I had to go when people insisted,” he said, adding that all his family members are stable.
