VADODARA: A prominent businessman from the city and his son have been accused of hatching a conspiracy and giving a contract to kill a
BJP member also having major interest in real estate in the city. The father-son duo and five persons roped in by them for the job were arrested by detection of crime branch (
DCB
).

Amit Gaur had allegedly hatched a conspiracy to eliminate BJP member Dharmendrasinh Waghela who is also nephew of Vadodara district unit BJP president Dilubha Chudasama. Bhanvarlal and Dharmendrasinh are at loggerheads over a piece of land in
Sama
area. Bhanvarlal and
Amit allegedly roped in Ashok Dubey, Harish Yadav, Alpesh Patel, Subhash Jat and Shashikant Yadav to kill Dharmendrasinh. In-charge DCB police inspector M S Waghela said that Dharmendrasinh got wind of the plot and informed police. Investigations revealed that the accused had planned to gun down Dharmendrasinh on Friday night.
All, barring father-son duo, had gathered at the basement of a complex in Sayajigunj with firearms from where they were nabbed. Five country-made handguns and 28 cartridges were recovered from them. The accused were presented in a court on Saturday. Counsels for the accused made a series of allegations against the DCB in the court and the remand application was fixed for hearing on Sunday.
