3 new faces in FGI’s new managing committee

Three new faces have found place in the managing committee of the Federation of Gujarat Industries (FGI) – the oldest and most influential trade body of central Gujarat.

VADODARA: Three new faces have found place in the managing committee of the Federation of Gujarat Industries (FGI) – the oldest and most influential trade body of central Gujarat.
Elections for 10 out of 20 seats of the managing committee for 2017-19 were held after a gap of 12 years. While four out of 10 candidates were already declared won uncontested because of reservation policy for woman and those contestants below 40 years, counting was done for the remaining six seats on Friday.

Ahead of the counting day, the federation had received postal ballots from 289 out of 317 companies which were eligible for voting. A total of 1,734 votes were polled for the elections of six seats for which ten candidates were in fray.
Ketan Parikh, partner of SD Intermediates, Kashyap Shah, managing director (MD) of Anugrah In-org Pvt Ltd, Janak Sheth, MD of Century Pharmaceuticals, Ajay Ranka, MD of Zydex Industries Amit Bhatnagar, MD of Diamond Power Infrastructure Limited and Mohan Nair, MD of Sabari Chemicals emerged winners. Kashyap Shah is the new face in the managing committee while Parikh who was co-opted member got elected for the first time.
Four other candidates – Dr Mukesh Patel, MD of Agriland Biotech Limited, Sunil Purswani, partner in Royal Pack Industries, Satish Panchal, MD of Vadodara Enviro Channel Limited and Mitesh Shah, MD of Steelco Gujarat Limited lost in the poll fray.
The two female candidates who were declared elected in the category of 20 % reserved seats for women include Hemal Mehta, joint managing director of P-Met High-Tech Co and
Shrishti Bhatnagar, director of Diamond Power Transformers . Of the two, Shrishti became member of the committee for the first time.
The two candidates who were declared elected in the category of 20 % reserved below 40 years include Avishek Dasgupta, CEO of Drakt Pharmaceuticals Private Limited and Keyur Shah, managing director of Yash Highvoltage Insulation Private Limited. Dasgupta is also the new face in the committee.
