Udaipur farmer gets trapped in thresher machine, dies

Udaipur: A farmer died after getting trapped in a thresher machine while cutting fodder at Rathoda village in Semari police station area of Udaipur on Wednesday.Ramji Patel, 63, was extracting fodder from the machine on his farm when his hand got caught in the machine as he was pushing in the straw, said head constable Gopal Joshi of Rathoda police chowki. Patel’s hand and half of his body were pulled into the machine, leading to his immediate death, he added.“A labourer assisting Patel witnessed the horrific scene and ran to inform the victim’s family. The entire machine was covered in blood,” said Joshi.Patel’s nephew, Hiralal, said the thresher machine had been borrowed from a relative to cut fodder for their cow. Hiralal said when he arrived on the scene, he found his uncle’s body trapped from the head to waist and mutilated inside the machine, with his legs hanging outside.The body was extracted from the thresher machine and shifted to Semari Govt Hospital. It will be handed over to the family after a postmortem, said police. TNN
