The tourists, who hailed from Russia, registered a complaint at Bichhiwada police station after which the accused were arrested and later released on bail. "Two Russian women and their guide were travelling in a car towards Udaipur. They had stopped at a midway hotel near Ratanpur check post. A group of four men and two women, who were already seated inside the hotel, allegedly passed some lewd remarks on the visitors which annoyed them," said Narendra Singh, SHO Bichhiwara police station.

They had a heated argument and after some time when the tourists left for Udaipur, the accused chased them. "The accused, who were from Gujarat, abused them. The tourists were beaten up by two ladies while the driver and guide were thrashed by their male peers," the officer said.

There were no major injuries and no one had consumed alcohol. The accused have been identified as Suraj Tripathi, Mohit Tyagi, Sumit Narval, Sanjay Tarara, Prajakta and Sonal. They worked in an Ahmedabad firm, police said.
