UDAIPUR: The city police on Tuesday arrested a man who allegedly killed his mother-in-law and dumped her body in garbage after she refused to send her daughter with him. The incident took place under Sukher police station of Udaipur on Sunday.
Ishwar Singh (24) strangulated and killed his mother-in-law Geeta Kanwar Bhati, said police.
Bhati, a resident of Pali, was living with her two daughters in a rented house at Meera Nagar.
Her elder daughter Janvi married Ishwar in May in Rajasamand district, but continued to live with her mother.
On Sunday, Ishwar came to meet Janvi and demanded that his wife be sent with him, but Bhati refused. Irked by the refusal, Ishwar conspired to kill his mother-in-law, said police. He convinced Bhati to come along with him and took her to Piplantri in Rajsamand on a bike. When she did not return home till late in the night, her daughters started searching for her. They called up Ishwar but his mobile was switched off.
In the meantime, police got information about a body found at a dumping yard on Sunday night. After investigation, it was found that the body was of Bhati. On Tuesday morning, police brought the body from Rajsamand to Udaipur. The daughters registered a case against Ishwar.
