Udaipur: Heavy police force had to be deployed in Jaswantgarh of Gogunda area in Udaipur district on Friday when a religious flag was removed and replaced with Bhim army flag. An FIR has been registered against more than 28 persons for inciting religious sentiments. The incident took place on Friday evening during a rally, which was organised to mark the birth anniversary of Dr.
Bhim Rao Ambedker.
When the rally reached Maharana Pratap circle in the village, the women in the rally started removing the big saffron flag on the circle. Before the police present at the circle could understand anything, the saffron flag was removed and the Bhim army flag was installed. Police tried to stop the crowd but they kept on raising slogans. Later, the Bhim army flag was also removed by the police.
After the incident, villagers in large numbers gathered on the spot and started a demonstration. The villagers were pacified by the police. In view of the increasing tension, police personnels were deployed at the spot. The video of the removal of the saffron flag went viral on social media as well. SHO Anil Vishnoi said that an attempt has been made to create unrest in the case. A case has been registered and strict action will be taken after investigating the matter.
