Udaipur/Indore: A sub-inspector and a constable from Rajasthan Police were injured after miscreants opened fire on a police team and helped three accused flee at Jetpura Fanta in Neemuch district of Madhya Pradesh on Wednesday night.Sunder Singh Kanesh, the additional SP of Neemuch, said the police team from Nimbaheda had detained the three accused with the help of MP police from Pipaliya Mandi in Mandsaur district. When the police team was returning to Nimbaheda, two men on a bike with a 12-bore gun interrupted the police vehicle near Jetpura Fanta. As the two miscreants attacked the cops from outside, the three accused inside the vehicle snatched the service pistol of SI Nanulal Gehlot. One of the accused snatched SI Nanulal Gehlot’s service revolver and shot him in the thigh, before escaping. He is being treated at a hospital in Udaipur. The three accused then fled with the miscreants. SI Gehlot had led a Rajasthan police team to Pipaliya Mandi (230 km from Indore) to investigate a robbery involving lakhs in cash and jewellery in Chittorgarh on June 5, said DIG-Ratlam range Manoj Kumar Singh. A mobile phone was among the things robbed. “Tracing the phone’s location, Sadar police of Rajasthan’s Nimbaheda district arrived in Pipliya Mandi to nab the accused. Three of the suspects -- Lakhan Bavri of Pipliya Panth, Narendra Bavri of Sokdi and Deepak Singh Bavri of Umariya -- were arrested and were being taken back to Rajasthan in a private SUV when they attacked the police,” said DIG Singh. He added, constable Ramavtar received bullet injury to a finger and constables Narayan and Jagdeesh were also injured in the scuffle with the suspects. The injured cops were taken to a hospital in Udaipur Hospital. 15 teams from Rajasthan and MP police have been set up to nab the trio and a reward of Rs 30,000 has been announced on each of them.
