NGO, Chittorgarh admn & cops stop 6 child marriages
Udaipur: In a joint operation with support of four police stations, members of Kailash Satyarthi Children’s foundation (KSCF) along with district administration officers stopped six child marriages in Chittorgarh district on Sunday.
Bhojraj Singh, director for KSCF’s ‘access to justice for children’ project, information was received about child marriages scheduled at areas under different police stations in Chittorgarh district.

KSCF teams along with police and district administration officers reached the spots and stopped the marriages, he said.

Singh said the team verified the age of the children and instructed the parents not to get the minors married. They also warned the parents of strict action under Prohibition of Child Marriage Act 2006 if they violated any laws.
Singh said the team of volunteers that had gone to stop a child marriage in Kotwali police station area was stopped by a sword-wielding person, while a relative in an inebriated condition abused and tried to attack the team at another location.
