Udaipur: A minor in Patan area of Banswara district was allegedly kept hostage for2.5 months, gang-raped and later dumped at her father’s house. The girl kept fighting for her life at a hospital for four days but died on Monday.
Banswara SP Harshwardhan Agrawal said it was not a case of abduction as the girl and the accused had been living together for more than 2 months and the girl’s parents were aware of it.
“The family had alleged that there were wound marks on the minor’s body but these were not found during the investigation. The girl is also said to have a history of epilepsy. The girl is a minor and rape has been proved,” said Agarwal. “The main accused was detained Wednesday afternoon,” the SP added.
In the report filed by the girl's father, it is stated that Rahul Katara, a resident of Thummath village of Kushalgarh town under Patan police station, and his four companions kidnapped the minor from her home two months ago. They kept her as hostage and gang-raped her. When her condition worsened, they brought her on a bike on May 23 and fled after leaving her in the courtyard of the house.
