Udaipur: Robbers fled with cash and valuables from a house after sedating family members in Udaipur on Monday night. The incident occurred in Modern Complex area under Sukher police station area at the home of entrepreneur Sanjay Gandhi. The housemaid is believed to have connived with the robbers.
The maid reportedly mixed a sedative chemical in the food consumed by the family.
She then called her accomplices, who robbed jewellery and cash worth lakhs of rupees.
According to Udaipur SP Yogesh Goyal, Sanjay Gandhi lives in Modern Complex with his wife Shilpa, a daughter, and a son.
The family had hired Karishma, a maid from Nepal, a month ago through an online agency. She resided in servant's quarters of their home.
On Monday night, the maid allegedly mixed a sedative in family's food. Around midnight, she called four accomplices, who entered the house.
Together with the maid, the robbers looted the house and stole jewellery and cash. However, they were unable to open a password-protected safe, police said.
In an attempt to retrieve the password, the miscreants assaulted Sanjay's daughter. They tied her hands and legs and tortured her in a semi-conscious state.
Despite the brutality, the daughter displayed remarkable courage and did not disclose the password. Frustrated, the maid and the miscreants fled after midnight.tnn
