UDAIPUR: A constable was injured on Friday night when criminals in a numberless SUV opened fire at the police team when they tried to stop them at the barricading which was setup by the Kotwali police of Pratapgarh. The bullet touched the ear of constable Sohan Singh who was immediately taken to Pratapgarh District Hospital, from where he was referred to Udaipur.
According to Bhagchand Meena, additional superintendent of police, on Friday night, the police team had put up barricades to check the vehicles. At around 11 pm, a white colored numberless SUV which was approaching from Kherot (Pratapgarh) was signaled to stop, but instead of stopping, the driver increased the speed and broke the barricades. There were 3-4 miscreants in the car. The SUV broke the blockade and moved towards Suhagpura (Pratapgarh).
After the incident, Kotwali police alerted all the police stations, but the miscreants also broke the barricades at Suhagpura police station and moved towards Devgarh Circle. To stop the miscreants, barricades were put at Devgarh Circle also. The miscreants in the SUV opened fire on the police team, injuring constable Sohan Singh of Devgarh police station.
Police are carrying out a search operation to nab the accused. After the incident a team consisting of 12 SHOs and 3 DSPs was formed in the entire district . With the help of drones, the police of four police stations including Devgarh, Dhariyavad have started a search operation in the forests of Sita Mata.
