Congress will fight polls on local issues, says CM
Udaipur: Chief minister Ashok Gehlot here on Tuesday said that Congress will contest assembly elections on local issues. Interacting with mediapersons, he said that now people have understood the tricks of those who mislead people in the name of religion. The Congress will wipe out the BJP in the state, he said. BJP’s slogan of pressing the EVM button after saying Bajrang Bali ki Jai did not work in Karnataka, he said.Quoting The Times of India, Gehlot said that national newspapers in their editorials have advocated Right To Health Act and suggested to the government to implement it throughout the nation. “Our RTH and Right To Education schemes are milestones for the entire nation. Rajasthan will soon follow Mizoram in the Happiness Index rating,” he said.Gehlot said no scheme of the previous government has been stopped. “It is they who discontinued our public welfare schemes,” he said.He appreciated the previous government’s Bhamashah scheme but said that when Haridev Joshi University of Journalism was closed down, there was negligible support from the media. “No one raised their voice against this action of the Vasundhara government. This was disheartening,” he said.Gehlot read out the list of many other schemes and projects which were stalled by the previous government, including Pachpadara refinery project, Metro project, withdrawal of employment scheme to Kedarnath victims, and gramin bus seva. “These projects are social responsibilities and it is the duty of the government to think about the future of the coming generation,” he said.Targeting the BJP, he said it will only instigate people in name of religion and the party has a lot of money power. “We have less resources but we will fight elections with them. The public will be with us because our actions match our words,” he said.Gehlot also visited Udaipur’s Maharana Bhupal Hospital and took stock of the old building of Zanana Hospital in the premises.
