CM lays foundation stone for Dewas project in Udaipur district
UADIPUR: Chief minister Bhajan Lal Sharma and Assam governor Gulabchand Kataria on Friday laid the foundation stone of Rs 1,690 crore Dewas Third-Fourth Project in Gogunda of Udaipur.
The project will help in keeping the lakes of Udaipur full throughout the year and improve the drinking water system.
Addressing the function, the CM said that with the implementation of this project, there will be no shortage of water in Udaipur. "Every third person coming to Rajasthan visits Udaipur. The Prime Minister also wants India to become the world's wedding destination and Udaipur is emerging as a wedding destination".
Paying tribute to Maharana Pratap, the CM said that our government will develop all the places associated with Maharana Pratap as tourist destinations.
Taking a dig at Congress leaders, Sharma said that our government has made transfers, they (Congress leaders) are having objections. During Gehlot's time, transfers were made at a cost.
The CM said that we have done a lot of work in a short time while only promises were made by the previous government.
CM Sharma promised that he will not let farmers, whose land falls in Dewas Third-Fourth Project, suffer.
"We will give them full rights," the CM said.
" There are islands in Mahi Dam situated in Banswara district, they will also be developed for tourists," he added. Assam governor Gulabchand Kataria, while explaining the importance of Dewas Project for the lakes of Udaipur, said that, "with this project, not only the lakes of Udaipur will be filled to the brim, but we will be able to keep many reservoirs of Udaipur district always full and also provide ample drinking water to the people. Former chief minister Mohanlal Sukhadia had conceived this important scheme at that time and now the Dewas project is moving forward," he said.
The CM also inaugurated the ITI College in Gogunda. Water resources department minister Suresh Singh Rawat, water supply minister Kanhaiyalal Chaudhary, tribal regional development minister Babulal Kharadi, revenue minister Hemant Meena, regional MLA Pratap Bhil, Chittor MP C P Joshi, ACS Abhay Kumar of water resources department and many public representatives and the general public were present in the ceremony.
From Gogunda, CM reached Mavli to inaugurate the new building of the Government College in Mavli.
