Work to illuminate Srirangam temple launched
Trichy: Chief minister M K Stalin on Friday started off the work of providing "architectural facade illumination" to the gopurams at the Sri Ranganathaswamy temple in Srirangam.The illumination project at the Srirangam temple will be carried out at a cost of 8.75 crore using temple funds. Temple sources said they plan to complete the project within four months. Once finished, the temple towers will be adorned with multi-coloured decorative lights at night. The Srirangam temple draws devotees from across the country throughout the year. On Friday morning, the chief minister formally launched the illumination works via video conference. A function to mark the occasion was held at the temple's thousand pillar mandapam, attended by Srirangam MLA M Palaniyandi, executive officer S Sivaramkumar, along with other officials and temple staff.
