Woman dies in car accident, son booked

Trichy: A 56-year-old woman was killed in a road accident near Thuvarankurichi in Trichy on Thursday when the car driven by her son rammed into the median on the Madurai-Trichy Road. Her son was arrested for the accident.The deceased, Thilaga, hailed from Kathakinaru village in Madurai district. Police said she was travelling with her son R Prasanna, 28, and his wife Nandhini, 26, on Thursday morning. As the car was passing though Mukkan bridge, Prasanna lost control and rammed the vehicle into the median. Thilaga died on the spot while Nandhini sustained severe injuries and was rushed to Manapparai Government Hospital.Thuvarankurichi police cleared the wreckage, and registered a case based on a complaint from Prasanna's father, Ramesh. Prasanna has been booked under various sections of BNS for rash and negligent driving, endangering lives, and causing death by negligence. Autopsy was conducted at the GH, after which Thilaga's body was handed over to the family.
