TRICHY: Taking charge as

Karur district

superintendent of police on Saturday, V Vikraman said that stern action will be initiated against those who break the law irrespective of who it is, he said.


Aravakurichi in Karur district is one among the four assembly segments in the state where bypolls are scheduled on May 19. While only a few days are left for the polls, election commission ordered for the transfer of T K Rajasekaran on Friday night.

Vikraman, who was superintendent of police in Chennai, replaced Rajasekaran on Saturday.

Vikraman said that all possible steps are being taken to curb the cash for votes. He said check posts have been created at 29 locations. Asking people to call 1800 425 2507 or 1950 for issues regarding bypoll, he asked to even call to his personal number 9344613343 to share any information.

A total

36 flying squad and 18 static teams

have been monitoring to prevent any election related violation where people will vote in 250 polling booths at 159 polling stations.
