TRICHY: A 40-year-old man and a 2-year-old boy were killed in a road accident while a 3-year-old girl sustained grievous injuries after a car rammed against the motorcycle in which the victims were riding near Manapparai in Trichy. Police registered a case and further inquiries were on.
The deceased were identified as J Thiyagarajan, 40, a resident of Poosarikalam in Manapparai, and M Pugalenthi, 2, of Vaiyampatti near Manapparai, in the district.
The injured girl
Anushri, 3, daughter of the deceased, has been admitted to a private hospital in Manapparai for treatment, police said.
According to the police, Thiyagarajan was riding a moped carrying his Anushri and his relative’s son Pugalenthi. They were going to a government hospital located on the Trichy-Dindigul highway. When Thiyagarajan tried to cross the road to reach the hospital located on their right side of the road, a car heading towards Trichy from Dindigul rammed the moped.
In the impact, both the victims died on the spot. Vaiyampatti police rushed to the spot and moved the bodies to Manapparai government hospital for post-mortem.
The driver was identified as D Ignatius Vivek, 31, a native of Adaiyar in Chennai. Police registered a case and further inquiries were on, police said.
