Karur: Two men were killed after a two-wheeler was hit by a Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation (TNSTC) bus near Thirukkampuliyur roundabout in Karur on Sunday.
Police identified the deceased as M Magesh, 42, of Velusamypuram, who was riding the two-wheeler, and Jayaprakash Narayanan, 76, of Thanthonimalai, who was riding pillion. Police said the accident took place on the Karur–Coimbatore Road (NH-81) when the TNSTC bus coming in the same direction rammed the two-wheeler from behind.
Magesh died on the spot due to severe injuries. Narayanan, who sustained injuries, was initially taken to a private hospital in Karur and later referred to the govt medical college hospital. However, he died while undergoing treatment. Karur Town police registered a case against the bus driver under sections 281 and 106(1) of the BNS for rash and negligent driving. The bodies were kept at GMCH, Karur, for postmortem.
The driver has not yet been arrested.
