‘Trichy tops state in implementing schemes for disabled’

Trichy: Trichy district tops the state in implementing schemes and providing welfare measures to disabled people, district collector M Pradeep Kumar has claimed. Altogether welfare measures worth Rs 1.08 crore were given away to eligible people in this category, he said while addressing an event organized by the department of welfare of the differently abled here.
The collector said all welfare measures announced by the government for differently abled people in the last two years have been implemented without fail. “As per the government’s order, we have given free house site patta, equipment and vehicles to almost all eligible beneficiaries,” he said. A total of 60 mobile phones were given to beneficiaries at the last meeting. “Earlier, we were providing tri-scooters to people who lost both limbs. However, as per the government order, we are extending the help to people who lost any one of their limbs based on seniority. By the end of the year, all eligible beneficiaries will get their tri-scooter,” he added.
Municipal administration minister K N Nehru and school education minister Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi gave away tri-scooters to the beneficiaries on Wednesday. IGP of central zone G Karthikeyan, city police commissioner M Sathya Priya, mayor M Anbalagan and officials participated.
