Trichy NGO wins TN govt’s green award

Trichy: Trichy-based social service organization VOICE Trust has been awarded the Green Champion Award for the year 2025 by the Tamil Nadu Pollution Control Board in recognition of its outstanding efforts in promoting environmental protection and sustainability.Since 2021, the state government has been honouring individuals and organizations that demonstrate proactive participation and contributions to environmental protection with the award. Along with VOICE Trust, the award was conferred upon Indira Ganesan Educational Institutions and KAIFA with each recipient receiving Rs 1 lakh cash prize. VOICE Trust has carried out many community-based environmental initiatives such as awareness campaigns, sustainable development projects, and citizen participation programmes over the years.District collector V Saravanan presented the award to A Gregory, director of VOICE Trust, at the collectorate on March 13. Trichy south deputy commissioner T Senthil Kumar, Green Fellow S Balakrishnan, and officials from the forest department were present during the event.
