Trichy: Man, 27-year-old, murders alcoholic dad, 50-year-old, with grinding stone

THANJAVUR: A 27-year-old man attacked his alcoholic father on his head with a grinding stone on Tuesday night, killing him on the spot, at Koodalivayal village near Sethubavachathiram. Police said the 50-year-old deceased farmer, Robert Kennedy, had been torturing his wife, R Elizabeth, in an inebriated condition every day.

The couple has two daughters and two sons including the accused R Arockia Arul Wilton. Police said that Kennedy picked up an altercation with his wife as usual on Tuesday. Wilton tried his best to pacify his father, but Kennedy created a ruckus and at one point started attacking his wife and later Wilton too. Unable to withstand the torture, Wilton attacked his father with a grinding stone on his head. Kennedy sustained grievous injuries and succumbed to his injuries on the spot. Sethubavachathiram police arrived and arrested Wilton after an investigation. The body was sent to Peravurani government hospital for post-mortem.
