Trichy gets dist revenue officer for docus registration
Trichy: A new post of special district revenue officer (registration verification) has been created for Trichy district to address the long-standing concerns regarding the need for a dedicated official to verify and facilitate land document registrations. In Trichy, Tirupur, and surrounding districts, inam plots were converted into ryotwari pattas and issued to eligible individuals as per the provisions of the Tamil Nadu Minor Inams (Abolition and Conversion into Ryotwari) Act, 1963. However, in certain cases where ryotwari pattas were granted to individuals, the land value was recorded as zero, which has created significant practical difficulties during the registration of sale deeds and other transactions.Several petitions were received from the public highlighting these registration-related issues. Public and farmer representatives also approached chief minister M K Stalin, and submitted petitions seeking resolution of the issues. In response, the chief minister ordered the establishment of the new posts in Trichy and Tirupur districts to tackle the deed registration issues of inam plots. R Ramesh has been appointed for the post in Trichy district.
