Trichy gets a new police station at Kaanakiliyanallur

Trichy: The director-general of police (DGP), Tamil Nadu, C Sylendrababu, inaugurated a police station at Kaanakiliyanallur in the Lalgudi sub-division in Trichy district through a video conference from Chennai.Minister for Municipal Administration K N Nehru visited the police station to extend his wishes to the police officers. Inspector general of police (IGP) G Karthikeyan from the central zone, deputy inspector-general of police (DIG) A Saravanasundar from the Trichy range, and superintendent of police (SP) Sujitkumar were present.The establishment of the Kaanakiliyanallur police station brings the total number of police stations in the Trichy district to 36, including five all-women police stations (AWPS) in sub-divisions such as Thiruverumbur, Jeeyapuram, Lalgudi, Musiri, and Manapparai.To create the jurisdiction, a portion of the villages previously under the Siruganur police station and Kallakudi police station have been reassigned. A total of 18 villages, including Thappai, Varakuppai, Koodalu, Punjai Sangendhi, and their hamlets, have now come under the jurisdiction of Kaanakiliyanallur police station.Heading the new police station will be inspector R Vijay Golden Singh, who will be supported by two sub-inspectors and 29 police personnel. The police station has been set up in a building that was previously designated for the panchayat office.Deputy superintendent of police (DSP), Lalgudi division, M V Ajay Thangam, said that the establishment of the Kaanakiliyanallur police station will greatly benefit the residents of the surrounding villages, ensuring swift police assistance when need.
