Trichy corporation opens maiden sports hub in Thennur

Trichy: Municipal administration minister K N Nehru on Tuesday inaugurated Trichy corporation's first integrated sports hub at Thennur, developed at a cost of 5.5 crore. While the first phase of the sports hub will be available for public use, a few components of the project will be executed and inaugurated in a phased manner, official sources said.Built on about two acres of land behind Thennur Uzhavar Sandhai, the sports hub is equipped with a gymnasium, table tennis, billiards, and lodging rooms. The facility can be accessed from both Anna Nagar Sivaprakasam Road and Thennur Pattabiraman Road.Corporation fixed user fees by segregating peak and non-peak hours. Monthly user fee ranges between 100 and 500 per head for lifetime members of the club. Non-members will pay 500 to 1,000 per hour to play table tennis.Officials added that tennis and badminton courts will soon be completed and opened under phase II. Later, the minister also inaugurated a new community toilet built at 43.8 lakh in ward 8.
