Trichy Corporation honours honest sanitary worker

TRICHY: A contractual sanitary worker has earned the praise of the Trichy Corporation for displaying honesty at work. The conservancy worker, R Muthukumar, was appreciated for returning a gold bracelet, weighing one sovereign, to a devotee who lost it at the Vekkaliamman temple at Woraiyur the city.

Muthukumar is employed by an outsourcing agency that manages the city’s doorstep waste collection.

R Vigneshwaran of Tharanallur lost his one sovereign gold bracelet in the temple on March 15. His efforts to locate his valuable went in vain. Vigneshwaran informed a few temple workers about his missing gold bracelet.

The next day, Muthukumar was assigned to clean the roads around the HR&CE department-managed temple. While cleaning the rear entrance, Muthukumar spotted a gold bracelet among the flowers and garlands dumped on the roadside. The sanitary worker alerted temple Nadaswaram player Kumar. Information was passed on to the bracelet owner.

Vigneshwaran approached the temple management and showed evidence such as photographs to substantiate that the bracelet belonged to him. After scrutiny, the temple management returned the gold bracelet to the owner.

Trichy Corporation commissioner V Saravanan felicitated the sanitary worker at the main office on Monday.
