TRICHY: Trichy corporation has finalised 8.9 acres of land in Panjapur to be handed over to Tidel park limited, a state-owned joint venture of TIDCO and Electronic Corporation of Tamil Nadu (ELCOT), for constructing office space for IT and ITES companies in the city. The corporation council has passed a resolution to assess the land value before handing it over to Tidel park.
Officials said the Tidel park management sent a letter to the corporation on April 28 seeking 10 acres of land at Panjapur on the Trichy-Madurai NH. The state industries department has allocated Rs 600 crore in the 2023-24 budget for the project in Trichy. After multiple site inspections, the urban local body informed that 8.9 acres of the corporation’s land in Panjapur revenue village is viable for the project. Trichy corporation has decided to cede the land as the project would generate local employment.
According to GO 35 of Municipal Administration and Water Supply department, the land transfer has to be completed based on the property’s market value. The instructions apply even for transfer of land between two state government departments. “The council has passed a resolution approving the land transfer and to estimate the land value of the property to complete the transfer,” an official source said. The district administration will send the land value estimated to the state government for further process in setting up the Tidel park.
