Police commissioner M Sathiya Priya said the action was taken as an on-going crackdown against rowdies involved in anti-social activities, people indulging in sexual crimes against women and anti-social elements to maintain law and order and prevent crimes. They took action against 2,975 offenders under sections of IPC, local and special Acts from January to March.
