Youth injured in fall from bus footboard

Trichy: A 19-year-old youth sustained injuries while precariously travelling on the front footboard of a private bus on Vayalur road in the city on Friday. K Rahul from Mullikarumbur near Vayalur suffered injuries to the left side of his head and hip after falling from a town bus near Geetha Nagar bus stop. Traffic north investigation wing of Trichy city police began investigation following a complaint lodged by his father S Krishnakumar. Police said Rahul was forced to travel on the footboard of the bus heading towards Trichy city due to overcrowding. When driver R Jegadeeswaran applied sudden brakes, Rahul lost balance and fell on the road. Fellow passengers rescued him and took him to Mahatma Gandhi memorial govt hospital where he is under treatment. A case has been registered against the bus driver.
