Kumbakonam: The bus conductors who recorded a good number of cashless transactions using electronic ticketing machines in the Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation's Kumbakonam division were honoured here on Monday.
K Dasarathan, managing director of the division, felicitated the top-performing conductors from the division's six zones with prizes. The recognition highlighted their dedicated efforts in encouraging cashless payments through digital methods, UPI, and card transactions.
The award winners are: S Kalaiyarasan from the Kumbakonam zone; P Mathivanan from the Nagapattinam zone, D Raja from the Trichy zone; S Nandakumar from the Karur zone; P Kalaivanan from the Pudukkottai zone, and C Govindaraj from the Karaikudi zone.
Dasarathan appealed to conductors to educate passengers about cashless ticketing options right before the start of every journey. He emphasised that consistent awareness initiatives of this kind could greatly accelerate the shift towards complete digital transactions among commuters.
During the programme, financial aid totalling Rs 27 lakh was distributed to 15 families belonging to the Kumbakonam and Nagapattinam zones. The beneficiaries included families of retired employees, staff who suffered injuries in accidents, and those who lost their lives in the line of duty.
